The nice thing about living in apartments in Round Rock is that you can easily drive out of the city to one of the awesome day trip destinations in Central Texas. It’s easy to get caught up in the idea that Austin is the only destination worth visiting on the weekend, but there’s a lot to do if you’re willing to expand your traveling radius.
Whether you prefer to spend a day outside, cool off in a creek, or dive into a boutique shopping experience, you’ll find an ideal day trip destination on the list below. When you’re done reading through this list, please be sure to share it with your friends and neighbors at your community of apartments in Round Rock!
The largest pink granite rock in the United States is just an hour away from your community of apartments. Enchanted Rock rises 425 feet out of the ground, and visitors can climb to the stop for a gorgeous view of the Texas Hill Country. With over 11 miles of hiking trails on and around the rock, there’s no shortage of exploration opportunities.
If you can, try to time your climb so you get to the top around sunset. You can also go here at night to for an amazing view of the stars as they shine bright outside the city. If you decide to go, be sure to leave the dogs at home because Enchanted Rock gets too hot for dogs’ feet!
San Marcos River Float
Next time the temperature rises over 100 degrees — which should happen any time now — throw on a swimsuit and head down to the San Marcos River. You can rent a tube and float down the river, past cypress trees, rope swings, and stop-off islands that are filled with crowds of people just trying to cool off. The San Marcos River stays around 72-degrees year round, making it the perfect place to cool off during a hot Texas summer.
If you haven’t seen Fixer Upper, you need to watch that before you visit Magnolia Market. Chip and Joanna Gaines own and operate Magnolia Homes, a remodeling and design business in Waco, Texas. Magnolia Market is also in Waco, and it’s filled with the kind of furniture, decor and antiques that Chip and Joanna use in the show.
Magnolia Market is a sprawling area with a green lawn, two silos, a bakery, and a home decor shop in the middle of it all. You can easily spend an entire day here eating, drinking, relaxing on the lawn and shopping in the store. Waco is a short 1-hour drive from Landing at Round Rock, so check it out next time you have a free Saturday!
